International Strength Under One Roof
On 17 August 2010 there was an amazing event held at the Suntec City halls-wrestling. International youths' physical and mental strengths were tested all on one mat, one arena, under one roof.
Physical strength was displayed when each competitor gave their utmost effort to bring their opponent down while mental strength was displayed when they stormed up stategies to destroy the competition.
Even thought the athletes were strong in their sport, they were also strong when the sport ended. The athletes displayed this power by showing respect for their opponent and their opponent's trainer, they showed friendship when they bonded with their opponents off the mat and they showed sportsmanship by showing that the match was a good and memorable one.
Furthermore, our eastspringian spectators showed their support and utmost respect for the athletes by cheering each every participator on, not thinking whether they were losing or not. In my opinion, tthe encouragement reached them and greatly affected their performance-positively of course. Since there was no jeering or discouragement, the athletes could perform at their very best.
The YOG is an event not to be missed, not only the wrestling event. If you have not been a spectator or been amongst the audience cheering, you are definitely missing out on a lifetime experience. So stop staring at your computer screen reading this and go get your ticket to the Youth Olympic Games!

History of Olympics
According to legend the Olympics was founded by a son of Zeus, Hercules. Yet the first recorded Olympic Games were in 776 B.C but it is believed that the Games have been going on for many years now. At one of the Olympic Games, a cook from Elis, Coroebus, ran naked and won the sole event at the Olympics, the stade - a run of approximately 192m, which made Coroebus the very first Olympic champion in history. The Olympic Games continued to grow and continued to be played every four years for 1200 years.
Origins of the YOG
The youth olympic games are planned to be an international multi-sport event about the same as the format of the original Olympic Games. The YOG will feature athletes between the age of 14 to 18 years old. The idea for the YOG was by the president of the International Olymipic Committee, Jacques Rogge.
About Olympic Wrestling
Wrestling is an individual combat sport usually between two opponents or "wrestlers". Each competitor attempts to throw the other to the mat, and 'pin' their shoulders to the ground to register a 'fall'. In Greco-Roman wrestling, the wrestler is forbidden to grasp the opponent below the waist, or to use the leg to trip or actively perform any action. In Men's And Women's Freestyle wrestling, however, it is permissible to grasp the legs, or to use the leg to trip or actively perform any action.
